Two years down

And lots and lots to go. Does Angie not take the best pictures ever? Seriously, ever. I love them so much and I really love that these were taken in my front yard, I will cherish them forever.

Run for it

I have been up to a lot of running this last month or two. One day I just got a wild hair and asked my work out buddy my sister in law Kris if she wanted to train for a 1/2 marathon with me. It has always been something I have wanted to do and so I thought "why not I like to run and I am sure worse runners than me have done it". Sionce then I have found my self constantly looking for new routes to run and soliciting running partners. Just today I convinced my brother to sign up for the same 1/2 marathon!

The point of this post is that sinceI made the choice to do this run I find myself being altogether more active in my life. Today I was going to a program at my brothers school about 4 miles away and I thought I have a half hour why not run? I did and I was tired but as I type I feel happy. Find your inner runner/swimmer/dancer/singer whatever makes you happy.

Deacons birth story

I forgot I wanted to write about Deacons birth for my own journaling purpose. If you want to skip feel free but I am sure at least my mom will enjoy it.

Deacon was due on May 14th but when I went to my Drs. office on May 8th I was prepared to tell her I simply could not go one more day. My Dr. agreed to induce me that day and stripped my membranes to try and get me on my way and boy did it work. I started to go into labor without being induced. By the time we got home fifteen minutes later I was in pretty serious pain. Contractions were coming every three minutes or so. We drove to the hospital and I felt really ready for an epidural, it took about twenty minutes for the Dr. to get to my room to give it to me, I was in misery. I will never forget the handsome older Dr. who gave me my epidural it did not hurt at all and I instantly felt better. From there the nurses let me eat orange popsicles and I watched Uncle Buck.

About three hours after the epidural they came in to break my water and as they were saying they needed to I felt like I had peed my pants. My water broke all on its own.
My doctor got there shortly after that and I pushed for about 45 minutes, it was so much harder than I thought it would be! It was just Curtis in the room with me which was just how I wanted it. He was very sweet and encouraging and kept telling me "It's your baby! Your baby is almost here!" I will always remember him saying those words because it helped me get through. When they handed Deacon to me I remember thinking he looked lots like my brother Isaac and that he had a perfect little nose.

I barely slept in the hospital and felt anxious most of the nights, it was just so strange to have this little baby that had been squirming around the inside of me on the outside now. I had so many great visitors and everyone was just in awe of how cute he was. I loved having people up and everyone was so sweet bringing food and flowers and treats.

Deacon was a really even tempered baby and is a very happy little boy now. He has always been a awesome sleeper and eater and is completly fearless. He will go down the biggest slide or jump off anything he can climb on. Deacon has been such a delight and has made our little family so fun. Curtis said today "You know how they say it is the terrible twos? Well i just hink Deacon is so fun!" Needless to say we think he is perfect.

Giddy up!

We had Deacons 2nd birthday party and it was a hit! I am not sure who had more fun, the kids or Laura and I making the cowboy decor.
Deacon and I both dressed for the occasion, I quite like the bandanas, all handmade by Grandma Leasure, each kid had one and suprisingly most wore them the whole party!

Everyone needs a friend like Laura who lovingly decorated each of these darling cupcakes. She never looks at me like I am crazy when I say something like "wanna help me make decorations for Deacons cowboy birthday?" I love Laura.

Nothing says cowboy like cracker jacks and Woody.

Hurray for theme parties! I will be devasted when Deacon outgrows them. I hope next year Deacon is really into space, that would make for a great theme.

Scenes from my favorite month

May. I never really contemplated what my favorite month is before now. I suppose most people pick their birth month or their favorite holiday month. Well this month I realized why I love May so much. First of all it is the first month that stays fairly warm after what seems like the worlds longest winter. It is warm enough to run outside and to let your kids run with no shoes on you can garden or think about gardening in my case. You have mothers day and May day and flowers blooming. But really the reason I love May is it is the month that made me a mother. I will always remember how good it felt to bring a baby home to warm weather and tulips. Everything felt right in the world. To me Deacon is a lot like May, warm and fun, exciting sweet and much needed sun after a long winter. I am so happy to be Deacons mom. Happy two year old birthday to my May baby!

Its all about airplanes

Since going to visit Grandma and Grandpa Deacon has become obsessed with airplanes. Lucky me I found some pjs at Old Navy with his beloved planes on them. So I tried to bribe him to talk airplanes. This was the best I could do!
